SLOC GUIDELINES - Updated March, 1998

Membership Chairperson

Reports to:  Vice -President, Company Operations

The Membership Chairperson recruits and keeps track of voting members. A person shall qualify for a voting membership by:

(a) Participation on any Company committee, or in a show; and

(b) Having so participated, paid their dues on or before February 1st.

Voting members are entitled to receive the SLOC newsletter and may vote at the annual meeting and at any other general membership meeting. A person must have been a voting member for at least one year immediately preceding being appointed an officer of the Company, and at least two consecutive years immediately prior to being nominated President or to the Board of Directors.

Duties of Membership Chairperson include:

1.  Maintain a record of members with names, addresses and phone numbers.

2.  Secure and fill out membership cards.

3.  Visit occasional rehearsals to inform cast/crew of the benefits of becoming a member.

4.  Collect dues and deposit the money into SLOC's bank account, and report deposit to the Treasurer.

5.   In January, call previous members who have not yet renewed their membership, to remind them of the February 1st deadline.

6.  Provide the newsletter editor with a list of current members before the January newsletter deadline.

7.  Provide the newsletter editor with a complete, up-to-date membership list before the April newsletter deadline.

8.  Provide the nominating committee with a list of members after February, indicating those members who have not been a member for more than one consecutive year immediately prior to the present.

9.  Attend the Annual Meeting and any other general membership meetings, for the purpose of enrolling new members and renewing previous memberships.

10.  Report names, addresses and phone numbers of new members to the newsletter editor and the person in charge of the mailing list for the Brochure.

11.  Review the guidelines and job descriptions in the Policy Guide and update the appropriate guidelines with Board approval as necessary.

12.  Provide continuity and a smooth transition by meeting with and instructing the newly appointed Membership Chairperson when your term of office is concluded.
