Auditions - How do people find out about them?
In an attempt to seek out new methods of "spreading the word" (ie: Publicizing), Donna & Dave handed out a survey at the Oliver auditions ("HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT SLOC's OLIVER's AUDITIONS?")
The Survey Results are as follows:
A) SLOC NEWSLETTER (14; good!)
B) TIMES UNION (10)
C) TROY RECORD (0; too bad 'cos they had a nice AD for us!)
D) GAZETTE (4l that's it?)
E) AUDITION EMAIL from Friends of Family (19, rather encouraging!)
F) SLOC's MARQUEE (2; Hooray! they read it!)
G) CAPITAL DISTRICT AUDITION.com web (6)
H) BEEN IN A PRIO SHOW (3)
I) MICHELE SOUSA GATTA (4, thanks, Michele!)
J) SLOC's HIGH SCHOOL AWARDS PROGRAM (1; well, that's encouraging!)
K) SCHOOL FLYERS/teachers (4)
The category is first, then the number of responses and some comments. Some auditioners had multiple answers.
WHAT DID WE LEARN FROM THE "OLIVER" AUDITIONS?....
1) Word of mouth and SLOC's reputation is SO crucial.
2) Newspaper Ads are not always 100% effective, (mixed responses, but we'd never eliminate paper ads, they're FREE!)
3) Press Releases to: Websites, personal community theatre email address books, professional Audition websites are a HUGE plus for Publicity.
4) Donna and I sent a cover letter & flyers to local school's theatre and music depts; This mailing attempt was successful enough that we'll continue this all season...
